Our Doctors are experienced in dealing with disorders involving small birds such as parakeets, finches, cockatiels and pocket parrots.
Just like dogs and cats, birds should have a good physical exam and fecal test twice a year to monitor their health.
When coming in for an exam, please bring the bird's cage, toys and diet you are presently feeding along with you so the doctor can evaluate all aspects of the bird's environment.
Most birds that are ill will still have a healthy appetite. This requires bird owners to be especially vigilant to watch for subtle signs of disease, such as: a change in voice, diarrhea, decreased interaction with humans or other birds and decreased activity.
Birds showing the following signs need immediate attention: lying on the bottom of the cage, lack of appetite, vomiting, blood in the cage, or watery diarrhea.
Schedule an appointment as soon as convenient.
