Urgent Care

When your pet is ill or injured and cannot wait for a routine appointment, our hospital team is here. Call first so we are ready for you when you arrive.

Call before you come in

A few minutes of warning is enough for the team to prepare for your pet. If you are already a client and it can wait, send us the details and we will confirm a time.

How fast does your pet need to be seen?

Match what you are seeing to one of these two lists.

Signs that need a veterinarian right now

  • Retching or heaving with nothing coming up, especially with a swollen or tight belly
  • A cat straining in the litter box and passing little or no urine
  • Labored breathing, or a cat breathing with its mouth open
  • A known or suspected poisoning, including human medication, antifreeze, rodent bait, chocolate or xylitol
  • Gums that are pale, white, blue or gray
  • A seizure that will not stop, or one seizure following another
  • Collapse, a fall from a height, or being hit by a car, even if your pet seems fine afterward

If you are seeing any of these, call the hospital at 440.845.7141 and start driving. Telling us you are on the way is what lets the team be ready when you walk in.

Call us the same day

These need a visit, but usually not within the hour.

  • Vomiting or diarrhea that lasts past 24 hours, or any blood in either
  • A seizure that has already stopped
  • Any bite wound, including a small cat bite, which can look minor and still become infected
  • A dog with back or neck pain who does not want to move
  • A cat making frequent trips to the litter box, or urinating outside it
  • Limping that is not improving, a swollen or squinting eye, or a wound you cannot see the bottom of
A Cavalier King Charles spaniel with a brightly decorated bandage on its front leg looks up while on a hospital leash.

When to call

When we are open

Monday – Friday: 7:30 am – 5:30 pm
Saturday & Sunday: CLOSED

If we are closed

Outside hospital hours, go straight to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital. The time to find out where that is, is before you need it: ask us at your next visit and keep the number somewhere everyone in the house can find it.
