How do I know how much I should feed my pet?
There are many factors that determine how much food a dog or cat should eat. The feeding recommendations on the food bags are often over-estimated and will usually produce a heavy animal. Pets that are spayed and neutered typically need about 25% less calories than before they were spayed/neutered. Other factors include the age of your pet, the size, the breed, their daily activity level, and how many treats they receive on a typical day.
Our doctors assess weight for each animal at wellness visits and will make appropriate dietary recommendations based on your pet’s unique situation.
